James 'Lucky Jim' Vogl is one of the few Brits to have won a WSOP bracelet. He has joined Poker Verdict as a player and blogger
Poker Verdict Grand Jury member James Vogl aka "Lucky Jim" is a games player extraordinaire. In his mid- to late-teens he turned this game-playing prowess into cold hard cash via high stakes backgammon and like many others before him (including Eric Seidel, Gus Hansen and Phil Laak), he soon migrated from being a profitable backgammon player to a high stakes poker phenomenon.
His impact on the scene was immediate, placing second in one of his first big tournaments in Amsterdam in late 2003. However, this $63k pay-day was soon to be eclipsed. Playing in his first ever WSOP event in 2005, James won the $2,000 No Limit Hold'em title and coveted bracelet, beating 833 players to take home $400k.
James has opted out of the gambling lifestyle recently and has a job at Knightbridge-based trading company Manro Hayden. He can still be found playing online or sometimes live at The Vic - London's de facto Home of Poker.THE OTHER TOP ONLINE PLAYERS
