Faraz Jaka – who plays online as “The-Toilet” or “The-Toilet 0″ – has been playing poker for less than thee years. Yet within 12 months of taking up the game in 2004, he’d racked up more than $120,000 in winnings.
The University of Illinois student became something of a celebrity on campus thanks to his initial online gaming exploits and has shown no signs of stopping since. Last weekend he won PokerStars‘ Sunday Million Warm-Up $250k Guaranteed, beating off a field of 1,640 players to claim the $67,666 first prize.
Just a week earlier The-Toilet had won UltimateBet’s $200k Guaranteed – another of the Sunday night biggies – to claim $45,000. His rich streak of form has already established him as one of the most dangerous online poker talents of 2007.
At just 21, you can expect a lot more to come from the man with one of the more unlikely online names.
Which raises the question: does anybody out there know why he’s called The Toilet?
Poker Verdict reader Mike Rogers replies:
“He is called The-Toilet because in the first few weeks that he even learned the rules of holdem he would play a bunch of suited cards because he did not know any better at the time. But he sure was good at getting people to call when he hit that flush. As a result he would turn over a ton of flushes at showdown and his friends and opponents would always say things like, ‘You’re a toilet you get so many flushes!’, and ‘Damnit The Toilet gets another flush’.
The name caught on so when he opened his first online account before he knew he was going to be playing for more than $20 he just put The-Toilet as his screename. Then, he started venturing into higher stakes and people thought it was funny that a high stakes player had a name like that, so he just went with it.”
