When we profiled Scott ‘SCTrojans’ Freeman last year, he was one of the highest volume MTT players on the net, sometimes playing as many as 35 tournaments a day. Though he hasn’t kept this volume of work up in 2008, he has still had an incredible year in anyone’s books.
His prizes on PokerStars & FT combined total almost $1.5million now after several huge scores over the course of the year. He started off by winning the $200 Re-Buys last November ($51,865) before a stunning last 4 months which has seen him rise into the Pocket Fives Rankings once again. In July he took down Full Tilt’s $65,000 GTD for $25,100 as well as winning the Stars Nightly Seventy Grand for a further $14,305. August saw him win the sites $50,000 GTD for $19,373 before final tabling the FT $40,000 GTD (3rd, $14,609), the $100 Re-Buys (4th, $17,964) & the Super Tuesday (4th, $20,480) in September alone. He also had a real shot of winning the WCOOP 2nd Chance NLH Heads-Up Event before eventually busting in 4th for $20,480. But October was even better as he final tabled the Sunday Mulligan (4th, $18,183) before the biggest cash of his career, taking down the $1,000 Buy-In Super Tuesday for a cool $78,000 on the 14th.
- From Oak Park, California
- Almost $1million in prizes on PokerStars
- Final tabled two WSOP Events this year
– Came 19th in 2007 WSOP Main Event
But this amounts to a standard year for Freeman these days: what has set him apart this year is his continued success in offline tournaments. He went deep in last years WSOP ME (19th, $333,490) and this year managed to final table two events: the $5,000 NLH (9th, $68,714) & the $1,000 NLH (4th, $223,572). Clearly the Oak Park, California native has a taste for the World Series and it would be no surprise to see him achieving similar amounts of success in the 2009 events.
It is unclear whether Freeman plans to expand his offline tournament volume even further but there is no doubt that ‘SCTrojans’ will be a feared online alias no matter how much playing time he puts in.
