Lacey Jones started playing poker with her family on annual holidays, not knowing one day it would turn into a career.
During a poker tournament two years ago all the tricks she learned in those childhood games paid off. She was one of a number of models who had been invited to take part to brighten up this particular event but she ended up performing so well, Absolute Poker approached her about becoming a sponsored player.
Jones signed up – and since then has raised her game to become one of their top players. She had a series of training sessions with poker pro Mark Seif and has played in a number of events, including this year’s World Series of Poker, where she cashed in the $1,000 Ladies No Limit Hold’em event.
Jones mixes poker with modelling, travelling the world for a number of clients. She graduated from the University of Arizona with a degree in political science and French and hopes to work as an ambassador one day.
Asked who she would play against at her ideal poker table, Jones says: “Stu Unger, Bruce Lee, Johnny Depp, Elvis, Doyle Brunson and Jenna Jameson.” Quite a line-up – now that would be a game worth watching.
