Congratulations to Steve ‘gboro780’ Gross who in the early hours of Monday 9th February took down FTOPS Event #10 for a cool $275,600.
The $300 NLH Event drew a staggering 5,325 runner field and lasted over 13 hours – but Gross is in the form of his life at present and once play got down to 2 tables the result never looked in doubt.
Gboro has been on an astounding heater over the last few months and a result like this – the biggest of his career to date – has definitely been on the cards. The New Jersey native now has prizes of over $2.7million combined on PokerStars & Full Tilt and this isn’t even his first six-figure score of 2009! On January 18th he also took second in the FT $1million GTD – collecting $126,506 in the process. This came just 24 hours after taking down the PLO $30k GTD event on the same site for $18,650! He has also taken down $100 Re-Buys tournaments on both Stars & FT for a combined total of over $30,000 over the past month.
Gross is making a real run at the top of the Pocket Fives Leader Board and after this huge victory it’s hard to see how ‘gboro780’ isn’t one of the world’s absolute best online tournament players right now.
- Won FTOPS Event #10 for $275,600, Feb ’09
- Almost $1.5million in PokerStars prizes
- Also took 2nd in $1mill GTD for $126,506, Jan ’09
What really stands out about his results is the sheer amount of profit that he takes from the game – just ask Jason ‘JP OSU’ Potter, who said of Gross: “I think you’re one of the few with unreal results out there that actually isn’t overrated” in his P5’s well. The well is full of praise from some of the game’s top players and is well worth checking out.
Gross is arguably one of the games most under-rated players but after this enormous FTOPS score perhaps Gboro will start to gain the recognition he undoubtedly deserves.
