Stephen Chidwick final tables two FTOPS Events in 48 hours to make a quick $190,000….
Congratulations to Stephen ‘stevie444’ Chidwick who has had quite an FTOPS XII over the last 48 hours. Widely regarded as one of the finest sit and go players on the planet, winning countless packages to seemingly every major offline event, Chidwick has also demonstrated that he can play MTTs with the best as well.
On May 12th he sat down for FTOPS Event #12 ($1,000 NLH with early antes) and played through 1,344 entrants for over 10 hours before finally busting in 6th place for a career best Full Tilt score of $49,500.
But not content with that, just 2 days later he sat down for Event #14 ($300 Re-Buys) and played another 11 hours, this time coming even closer to his first ever major online series win – but he ran terribly in heads-up play with ‘U_2Good4_Me’ to just lose out but still take home $142,155 for 2nd place.
That’s over $190,000 made in just 2 tournaments and takes his prizes on Full Tiltwell past the $1.3million mark – a staggering achievement (this figure includes HU matches and STTs). It also puts him a highly impressive 4th on the currentFTOPS XII leaderboard.
The forums were soon starting congratulatory threads for one of the most popular players on the net, with Stevie himself adding to the Pocket Fives one: “Thanks again to everyone for the support, it means a lot. Also gg to apestyles who played really well and got 6th – on a tear right now and one of the awesomest people i know.”
So will we be seeing more of Chidwick in live poker this year? In January 2008 he did take down the PCA $1,000 NLH Event for $88,760 but wasn’t seen cashing after that until the EPT Barcelona in September, where he finished 15th for$53,064. He also made a small cash in January ’09 at the Euro Finals of Poker in Paris, finishing 9th for $2,534 at the Aviation Club.
Hopefully we will be seeing a lot more of him in 2009 and can put some of his legendary satellite skills to good use!
