A new name has taken the European poker circuit by storm over the past few months. Step forward the inappropriately-named busto_soon; real name Johan van Til.
Little is known of the 25-year-old student, who hails from Groningen in Holland, beyond the fact that his stats are outstanding. He is a high-volume player who has become a major online presence, regularly making the final tables of some of the biggest tournaments.
Since mid-November 2006 he has taken down tournament winnings of over $175k on PokerStars, cashing 77 times. He’s landed prizes of $10,000 or more six times, his biggest win coming back in November when beat 215 runners to claim $26,510 in a $100 re-buy tourney.
He’s added $43,785 on UltimateBet since mid-December and $37,008 on Full Tilt since October. Busto_soon plays under the name johnny2912 on Party Poker and has collected $37,430 during the past five months. Quite a haul, we’re sure you’ll agree.
Busto_soon has shown his ability in some of the biggest MTTS, finishing seventh ($5,229) and fourth ($10,144) on PokerStars‘ highly competitive Sunday night $200 rebuy in consecutive weeks in February.
He is also the king of the WSOP ‘steps’ on Stars, and it is rumoured he won 23 seats to the 2008 WSOP Main Event.
At his current rate of progress it appears only a matter of time before he makes a podium finish at least.
