Don’t let her looks fool you: Sandra Naujoks is the reigning European Female Player of the Year….
In an era when marketability is the outstanding factor in poker sponsorship deals, Sandra Naujoks was a natural selection to join the ranks of team Full Tilt.
Her piercing blue eyes, coupled with accessories of a cowboy hat & Havana cigar, mean that it’s hard to miss the German at the tables. But it’s not only her looks which persuaded Full Tilt to sign up her – the Berliner can play too.
Naujoks won the 2008 ‘Europe’s Leading Lady’ Award at the European Poker Awards, thanks largely to a fantastic performance at the CAPT Baden in October ’08. She came through 163 other players to scoop the $4,000 NLH Event and a first prize of $240,289 – even defeating Alex Kravchenko in heads-up play to boot. This result earned her instant fame across the European poker rooms – she has been a full-time pro since 2007 (quitting her job as a freelance event manager) but it was this result which really put her on the map.
She is no one-hit wonder, however: in August ’08 she final tabled the CAPT Graz Main Event (5th, $23,777) and has been on German TV when final tabling GIGA-TV’s Poker Night No.10 – she was the first female player ever to reach the final table of this event.
Look out for Naujoks playing under her own name on Full Tilt – in her brief career under the site she has already cashed in 3 FTOPS Events and we are looking forward to seeing whether she can combine marketability with poker skill – a very rare commodity.
