ckingusc: when i cash out can i get a big novelty check?

No controversy this year as the biggest tournament in online history comes to a conclusion...

WCOOP Main Event – NLH, $10,000,000 GTD

Buy In: $5,200

Prizepool: $10,925,000

Runners: 2,185

Paid: 324

Lasted: 36 hours

Winner: ckingusc, $1,265,432 (5-way final table chop)

Runner Up: liberace

So after 2 gruelling days of tournament poker the WCOOP Main Event ended with Carter ‘ckingusc’ King taking down the largest first prize in online history and a place in poker infamy.

King started with the second largest stack at the final table and carefully worked his way through the remaining 9 players to eventually get an A8 vs KQ coin-flip versus ‘liberace’ for the tournament. An ace on the flop did it for ckingusc, who asked PokerStars:

ckingusc: when i cash out can i get a big novelty check?
StaffBryanS [Host]: I'm not sure that a giant foamboard check will fit through the post, ck. ;)
ckingusc: ship it freight imo

The initial first prize was $1,775,312 but a 5-way chop brought this down to a still gigantic $1,265,432 for the winner.

One of those in the chop was Alex ‘AJKHoosier1’ Kamberis, who battled with the short stack valiantly throughout the closing stages and eventually finished 3rd for $782,542. The news will be a crushing blow to Chris Moorman’s hopes of retaining the PocketFives number one ranking but for one of the internets top tournament players to go so far in its flagship event is nonetheless an incredible achievement.

It was also yet another successful WCOOP for ElkY, who came in 21st for $22,942. This meant that the PokerStars pro cashed an amazing 7 times in the series, earning more than $400,000 in the 2 week period. Further down the list, Jack ‘Doctor_Fun’ Powell kept some British influence in the cash list by finishing 71st for $17,480 while November Niner Ylon Schwartz made another main event money finish under his moniker ‘TenthPlanet’ (78th for $16,387).

Congratulations to champion Carter, a 22 year-old professional from South Carolina who just 4 months ago came 6th in the FTOPS $2,500 event for over $100,000. Having also final tabled the Sunday Million (for $19,000) he is clearly talented and we are sure to be hearing more of him in the not too distant future.
