WCOOP 9, 10, 11, 12 Results
By Lucy Kavanagh 11 September 2008
We take a look at the latest results from the WCOOP 2008, as events 9-12 come to a close...
WCOOP Event 9 – 4 Handed NLHE, 300k Guaranteed
This one was truely a huge success for the unknown poker players - with the deepest cash by a remotely famous name being that of Kravchenko, coming in at 26th for $2.6k.
Aside from that, the cash list seemed to be filled with players never before reported on in the poker media and that further proves the general talk going around that the standard of poker is increasing and more and more casual players are turning their hand to serious poker and making it in the big time.
This has been demonstrated consistently in the early stages of the PokerStars WCOOP 2008 and seems likely to continue - will the main event final table be filled with $7.50 steps qualifiers absolutely owning the MTT pros? It is definitely possible.

Paid: 252
Lasted: 17 hours 26 minutes
Winner: 92848, $88,383
Runner-Up: astarisborn, $66,547
The explosion of Omaha popularity in recent years was highlighted by the number of entrants for Event #11: 1,733 for the less popular Hi/Lo version of the game is up from a measly 207 runners in 2002. Online players ‘92848’ & ‘astarisborn’ both easily recorded the biggest cashes of their PokerStars careers with a few big names hovering around the lower echelon of the prize pool. Isaac Baron, the Hold’Em ‘Guru’, has obviously caught the PLO bug as he came in 83rd with the far more experienced Barry Greenstein (barryg1) busting in 110th. Another big NLH volume player, amchaiKK, finished 153rd and PV’s very own Nik Persaud (‘Reraiseallin’) made a nice $727 with his 101st place finish.
WCOOP Event 12 – Hold ‘Em Mixed, $300,000 GTD
Buy-In: $300 $20
Prizepool: $448,800
Runners: 1,496
Paid: 216
Lasted: 17 hours 6 minutes
Winner: Randers, $73,603
Runner-Up: 011180, $53,856
A new Hold ‘Em event getting less runners than the PLO H/L? Surely not. Is this a sign of the shifting sands occurring in poker? Either way, the usual assortment of online tournament regulars were still in attendance and Pocket Fiver ‘Randers’ walked away with the $73,603 first prize. He has previously won the $100 re-buys and Full Tilt’s $65k GTD so clearly he is no mug. ‘Pearljammer’ Jon Turner is clearly not rusty from writing his first book as he came in 42nd here with Stars Pro Katja Thater also making the top 100 (96th).
