We take a look at the first results from the launch of the inaugural WCOOP this weekend where Events 1-5 saw tonnes of poker action...

WCOOP Event 1 – 6 Handed NLHE, 1m Guaranteed

The WCOOP kicked off in smashing style for PokerStars, passing their 1m guarantee requirement of 5000 players by more than 2000. Poker Verdict’s Fresh Fish finished 306th for 700 bux. Pretty much the entire Poker Stars Pro team played in this event as well as all the famous online MTT stars.

Prizepool: $1.44 million

Runners: 7217

Paid: 1080

Lasted: 18 hours

Runner Up: pffwhatever, $148k

 

WCOOP Event 2 – Five Card Draw, 100k Guaranteed

Another great one for PokerStars, receiving more than double the runners needed to make the 100k guarantee. Everyone’s favourite entertainer RainKhan made the final table, finishing 7th for $4k, and WCOOP Main Event Winner 2007 ka$ino proved he is more than a one timer in the World Championship by cashing deep at 14th for $1.3k.

WCOOP Event 3 – FLHE, 300k Guaranteed

The famous Bdbeatslayer finished 4th for $26k, and again the guarantee was more than covered by the runners.

Prizepool: $451k

Runners: 2258

Paid: 324

Lasted: 18 hours

Winner: cwp394, $73k

Runner Up: #1PEN, $54k

 

WCOOP Event 4 – 2-7 Triple Draw, 100k Guaranteed

 

A star studded cash list – especially from 30th – 40th as PokerStars Pros John Duthie, Alex Kravchenko and Vanessa Rousso finished 32nd, 33rd and 34th respectively each bagging $700. Marcin Horecki and Isabelle Mercier finished 37th and 38th respectively, also bagging $700.

Runners: 734

Paid: 108

Lasted: 15 hours

Winner: playitsafe $24k

Runner Up: mardene $18k

 

WCOOP Event 5 – 10k NLHE, 2m Guaranteed

 

One of the highest buy in events of the WCOOP series, this attracted many well known high-rollers. Second place finisher DuckU is well known for his high stakes MTT play. Interesting final table appearances include Chris Moneymaker, who finished 6th for $139k, and WCOOP Event 3 runner up, who is running good with a 3rd place finish for $337k. A more quirky final table appearance came from former major league baseball star turned commentator Orel Hershiser, who finished 9th for a comfy $54k.
