Player Update: Moorman1

Congratulations to Chris ‘Moorman1’ Moorman who has reclaimed the #1 spot in the Pocket Fives Worldwide Rankings this week.

The friend of Poker Verdict had been trailing Alex ‘AJKHoosier1’ Kamberis ever since the latter’s enormous $941,735 score in the WCOOP Main Event back in September. But Moorman has put together a sick run of his own in recent weeks to put himself back on top of MTT poker.

As ever with this incredibly consistent player, naming all of his major scores over the last few months would take forever but since we last updated his progress on November 7th ’08 he has continued his relentless assault on tournament poker. Since then he has taken down the PokerStars $100 Re-Buys twice (one as part of yet another Triple Crown) for a combined total of over $70,000 – take in his 2nd in the same event the month before and you get almost $100,000 earned from the Re-Buys in just 6 weeks!

He has also placed runner-up in the Full Tilt Sunday Mulligan for $33,880 last week and took down the site’s $90,000 GTD for $27,852 on December 27th.

But his biggest recent score came in Titan’s ECOOP III series, placing 3rd in Event #8 ($2,500 NLH) for a cool $50,000.

This was all achieved despite travelling out to the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure this month, placing 16th in the $4,800 Event for $19,100, as well as going to Melbourne for the Aussie Millions!

In an interview with P5’s after reclaiming top spot, Moorman said: “If Alex (AJKHoosier) starts putting in volume again he'll be the number one threat. Steve gboro780 Gross is one of the most underrated players out there and he just generally owns me every time we play. If breeth wins the Sunday Million again, his Pro Poll might finally move up a couple of spots.”

With the next FTOPS series imminent (starting on February 4th), it will be fascinating to see whether the great Moorman1 can hold on to his #1 Ranking – given how sick he is, we wouldn’t bet against it.
