Player Focus: Amy Trodd

Amy Trodd is the marketing talent behind Poker Verdict and a pretty mean player too...

17 August 2007

Amy Trodd is Poker Verdict's marketing executive and has been playing poker for just over three years. As a fresher at Newcastle University she enjoyed the odd trip to the local casino to gamble her student loan on blackjack, but after a while she started watching poker on TV and the love affair with the game started. It wasn't long before she was playing the '£5 happy hour' at the Gutshot Club in London's Clerkenwell Road.

Amy now regularly plays in casinos and poker clubs around the London area including the Western and The Vic, often described as the UK's 'home of poker'. She does well on the tournament scene but tends to avoid the cash tables - unless, of course, she makes an early exit from a tournament.

Amy’s best win to date is taking down a £60 rebuy tourney at The Vic. Amy’s proudest poker achievement was making it to the final table of a $170 buy-in tournament at Caesars Palace in Vegas when all her fellow Gutshot team members had been knocked out but were there to support her.

Amy was fortunate enough to be taken to WSOP 2006 in Las Vegas. Sadly, she didn’t get to play in any of the events but got to interview the likes of Doyle Brunson, Joe Hachem, Johnny Chan and many more.

She’s got her eyes set on next year’s WSOP and is hoping that she might get the opportunity to play in one or more of the events.
