Moorman1 Wins Fourth Triple Crown

By Philip Tuck

We catch up with the UK's best online player after he makes online history

So what’s it feel like to make online history by being the first ever player to win four PocketFives triple crowns?

Yeah, obviously its great, its always nice to feel that your game is on point and progressing well.

This achievement also comes at a time where you are seriously threatening the number one spot in the pocket fives rankings - how does it feel to be within a whisker of being the best in the world?

I was actually world number one on the sliding plb for a brief time last week, and I’m currently number one on the yearly plb by quite a margin. I really want to push for the number one spot - a lot of the reason I play poker is to win and be the best - the number one spot would mean a huge amount to me. At the moment I’m just 50 points (out of totals of over 7000) behind AJKHoosier so one result either way could get me there. Again it’s also nice to see your game is at the highest level and that I have the necessary skills to compete with anyone at the poker tables.

So how did your WSOP go?

The actual WSOP was a bit of a wash out - I managed a couple of small cashes but still have not got that elusive live result. I’m going to really try and play a lot more live events over the rest of the year such as the GUKPT events and a few more EPTs. It would be really good to get a result live as so far my results are obviously a bit one sided. Outside of live tournaments I had a great WSOP - I was on a decent heater online throughout and this was great. This also obviously really helped in pushing for that number one spot and in paying for the expenses of the trip.

I also managed to beat my house mate in Vegas, Paul Foltyn, in a online prop bet about who could get higher in the rankings. In the end he had to take the whole house out for a massive meal of Kobe beef steaks and loads of drinks which was definitely a bonus.

I see you took down the PLO $50 rebuy on PokerStars - is this the start of you expanding into the game?

Well I have played a lot of PLO cash games over the year and have done really well in them so I thought it would only be a matter of time before I did something in a PLO tourney. Obviously the variance in the game is huge so it might be a while before you see me winning another big one. Omaha is a very different game to hold’em and I’m hoping to become a lot better at it - it seems to be taking over as the main high stakes cash game so I will definitely be continuing to work on it.

So will we be seeing you making it five triple crowns in the coming months?

Yeah hopefully I can win as many of them as possible. The main aim at the end of the day is to keep playing my best whilst continuing to learn and improve and the rest should take care of itself.

Again well done on making a bit of history. Any final thoughts or shout outs?

Place a bet on me for GUKPT Luton. I'm ready to finally make a run at one of these.
