21-year-old Tim West has managed to do what us poker mortals can only dream of: turn his online poker hobby into a full-time profession - and before he's barely old enough to buy a drink in his local bar. His rather unremarkable online username "Tmay420" wouldn't initially catch your attention as he gets added to your table, seemingly just one among many others in your evening online tournament. That is until he decimates your lovingly accrued chip stack along with everyone else's on his way to the final table.
Unlike many of the online greats, his fame is not due to playing dizzyingly high-stakes cash games, or winning one or two huge buy-in tournaments. Rather, it is due to his consistent and relentless success at mid-to-high buy-in NL Hold'em Multi Table Tournaments. The frequency with which he reaches final tables is impressive to say the least, as his recent statistics show.

It is this storming record that have kept him in the top four in the online poker rankings, $379,233 in winnings and a fearsome reputation to boot.
Tim's live performances are equally impressive. Since turning 21 just last year, he has notched up $463,680 in live tournament cashes. His biggest single win so far is second place at the $5,000 NL Hold'em Fifth Annual Five Diamond World Poker Classic. He also gave a great performance at the WPT Championship in April 2007, with three cashes and two final tables. According to the WPT website, his results reflect his preparation and mentoring from his brother, Tom, and his circle of online friends including Adam "Roothlus" Levy, Justin "Looshle" Pechie and Jared "TheWacoKidd" Hamby.
Originally from Los Altos, California, Tim can be found on Pokerstars, Ultimatebet and Partypoker, playing either MTTs or tearing up his favoured limit $7.50/$15 cash game. On his myspace page ( www.myspace.com/tmay420) he comes across as a fairly average 21 year old male. His interests are listed as "Poker, Sports, Women, etc", and his strong sense of humour is evident: his favourite book is listed as "I'm a f*****g degenerate, I don't read".
Even so, his steely determination shines through in his personal catchphrase "If you want something, go and get it", a motto that will undoubtedly carry this young poker player as far as he wants it to.
