Shaun Deeb has won WCOOP & FTOPS Events in the space of 5 weeks this year....

Shaun Deeb has long been one of the highest volume MTT players in the world but his performances in 2008 have dwarfed his previous efforts by some distance.

With Deeb taking down the PokerStars Wednesday Quarter Million for $46,875 this week, we thought it was about time we updated the progress of one of the internets finest players.

Factfile:

- From Troy, New York

- Prizes of over $1.4million on PokerStarsMTT's

- Won WCOOP & FTOPS Events in 2008

- #4 in PocketFives rankings

The New York native has been on a serious heater all year, so much so that his prizes on PokerStars & Full Tilt combined now total well over $2million. Not only this, but he also became one of a handful of elite players to have won both a WCOOP & FTOPS Event in the same year! In August he took down FTOPS Event #9 ($500 Heads-Up) for a cool $115,014 before even topping that with outright victory in September’s WCOOP Event #25 ($300 PLO Re-Buys) for a career best $144,112. Considering the lack of Omaha activity on his Stars account before the Event, this achievement is all the more impressive.

But this is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of Deeb’s results this year: in May he recorded another six-figure cash by taking down the Sunday Warm-Up for $102,542 and just 4 days later final tabled another FTOPS Event ($300 Re-Buys), where he finished 6th for $38,515. Other highlights include a 3rd in the FT $1k Monday ($40,920) and 3 third places in the Stars Re-Buy Events (twice in the $100 for $22,869 & $21,294 as well as one in the $200 for $22,660).

There are so many other 5-figure cashes recorded that it is impossible to list them all here: safe to say his ranking of #4 on the PocketFives Leaderboard is entirely justified. With Wednesday’s Quarter Million victory, he is clearly still in the groove and it would be no surprise to see him rise even further by the end of 2008.
