The New Yorker's WSOP bracelet victory is a far cry from his home games...
Andrew Brown is a 26 year old mixed game specialist who lives, with his dog, in NYC.After being introduced to Andrew, by Bryan Micon, during the first week of the WSOP08, I was left wondering why I hadn't heard of him before such was his upbeat manner.
I am sure Ted Forrest must have been confident of another bracelet in the $3k Omaha8 and tournament when, after the eliminations of Ralph Perry, Scott Clement & Jimmy Fricke, he faced the Leo Sayer lookalike heads up.
In fact Andrew Brown's only tournament cash, at that point, was in a $300 buy in in Atlantic City.
However, Forrest was to leave with Anna Wroblewski, but without a bracelet for the fourth consecutive year at the WSOP.
Brown's usual haunts, in the NY underground games, are a different world from the poker rooms of Las Vegas.
He told me over the phone recently that one day the "chef" opened up a box of food and a mouse jumped out. The game was delayed for 45 minutes while the house cat chased the mouse around the basement club. Andrew brought cookies to eat after that day.
Another time Andrew was in the break room when the SWAT police raided the club and confiscated everyone's money. Andrew had just busted out of the cash game so going home broke that evening felt like a good beat.
Online Andrew plays as Browndog on Bodog and Browndog19 on Full Tilt. Brown has been awarded the shark symbol on Sharkscope for his results in the cash games.
Recent tournament results include a win in a Full Tilt 119 player Razz event and a
fifth place in a $163 buy in NLHE tournament also on Full Tilt.
Andrew does not drink and celebrated his bracelet win with an early breakfast at the
Bellagio with friends including BodogAri and Getcrunk.
