The Weekend Report

By Philip Tuck

Gus Hansen hits the wall as his winning streak finally comes to an end

The Full Tilt cash games.

Gus Hansen's year long winning streak finally came to an end this week, and by the time the smoke had cleared he was down well over 1.2 million dollars down for the week – mostly losses incurred to the Dang brothers - 'trex313' and 'urindanger'.

Gus also had a great heads up match early in the week against Phil 'OMGClayAiken' Galfond, where they both basically broke even, although they produced some monster hands along the way. David Benyamine has also made a successful return to the big game, and he continued to do well this week mainly at the expense of Gus Hansen. Here are a selection of the weeks biggest hands:

Gus gets it in with a pair and a gutshot and hits: http://www.pokerhand.org/?4132385

Gus turns a set and holds: http://www.pokerhand.org/?4132826

Top set is more than enough for 'urindanger' here: http://www.pokerhand.org/?4114901

Hansen's over pair holds up: http://www.pokerhand.org/?4114899

Hansen flops the nuts and holds against a big draw: http://www.pokerhand.org/?4114759

Hansen loses an absolute monster pot overplaying two pair into the flopped straight of Galfond: http://www.pokerhand.org/?4114746

A big river bet is enough to take this one down: http://www.pokerhand.org/?4114736

Another big pot goes Galfond's way: http://www.pokerhand.org/?4114729

Gus continues to be a major catalyst for the big online games. His private heads up tables always have long waiting lists for a chance to challenge the Dane, yet so far this year he had confounded his critics by booking some very large wins. This last week he dropped a huge amount of money though, and it will be interesting to see whether this is the start of a much larger downswing or if Gus can bounce back in the coming weeks.
