Nik Persaud 2nd In GUKPT Manchester

PV's newest recruit continues his ultra-consistent GUKPT record...

By Simon Hopper Monday 28th April 2008

Nik Persaud continued his incredible run in GUKPT tournaments last night with second at the Manchester Main Event.

The runners-up spot was good for GBP52,530 as he waded through a field of 309 before finally succumbing to long-time chip leader Marc Goodwin heads-up.

He was 9/2 to take the title outright with Blue Square going into the final table and briefly held the chip lead before Goodwin's aggressive post-flop strategy saw him hold over a 2-1 chip advantage (2million to 880k) when down to the final two.

In the final hand, Marc set Nik all-in on a board of A T 3; Nik called with K T only so see Marc flip over A 8.

It takes Nik over the GBP100,000 mark in GUKPT cashes, and remarkably this was his 6th Main Event cash since January 2007.

That first title still eludes him, but with such consistency surely it wont be long before that record comes to an end.
