GUKPT Leg 8: Thanet Review

By Simon Hopper

20th October 2008

Andrew Teng takes home the Main Event and a place in the Grand Final....

Congratulations to Andrew Teng who took down Leg 8 of the GUKPT for £68,380 on Sunday evening.

Teng, an online pro from London, was appearing in his first ever GUKPT final table and clearly found the G Casino in Thanet, Kent to be to his liking.

Teng came through a final table that included big UK names such as Dave Penly (5th, £14,600), Karl Mahrenholz (8th, £6,780) & Dusk Till Dawn host Simon Trumper (£5,650).
The 226 runner main event drew a prize pool of £227,350, meaning that 18 players made the money from £2,620 upwards.

A big shout out should also go to PV’s Tony Phillips, who earlier in the week took down the £300 NLH side event for a cool £7,040. This is Tony’s first major cash since his WSOP 10th place finish so congrats to Tony and we hope this is the kick-start he needs heading into the final stretch of the GUKPT season. Other players to make the final table include Jeff Kimber (7th, £930) & Julian Thew (8th, £720).

It was a productive week for Kimber, who also took down the £100 PLO Re-Buys event for £4,965.

The forthcoming final leg of the GUKPT roadshow will take place in Blackpool, starting on November 8th.
