WSOPE Event #3 Update

Channing falls just short of second final table in five days....

Commiserations to Neil Channing who came agonisingly close to a second WSOPE final table in five days at the Empire last night.

Badbeat, among the chip leaders going into day two, was eliminated in 11th place of Event #3 (£5,000 PLO) by Finnish player Tomi Nyback, just one place short of the 10-man final table.

On a board of 5c 8h 9s, the chips went flying in with Nyback’s A695 for two pair leading Neil’s 696T top pair and straight draw. Unfortunately the outs all missed, and according to Poker News Max Pescatori said to PV’s top dog: “You can’t bluff anyone under the age of 22”. “I should have known that after the Joe Beevers hand” Channing concluded, referring to the elimination of Beevers by EPT San Remo champion Jason Mercier just minutes before.

Still, Neil can take home £18,562 for his sterling efforts, taking his total WSOPE winnings to over £60,000 before the Main Event has even started.

The final table will resume today, with chip counts and seat positions as follows:

Channing is clearly white-hot at present and another tilt at a deep run in the ME is by no means out of the question (the £10,000 flagship event starts tomorrow at 13:00 GMT).
