EPT Prague Part Two

Philip Tuck describes following UK online players moorman1 and allinstevie as they entered Day 2 of the EPT Prague...

After the regulation interview with PokerStars at the beginning of day 2 (life is hard at the top), allinstevie sits down and gets down to business, raising and re raising lots of hands - using his loose reputation to crack a set of nines with jack eight on a 9-10-6-Q board. allinstevie now has a stack of ante chips bigger than the rest of the table combined.

Moorman1 continues his yoyo performance - running his stack up to 30k and then straight back down 17k after being pushed off three hands in a row.

allinstevie really steps it up a gear around the first break - at one point raising or re-raising every hand. The stack of antes continues to expand.

Moorman1's sterling performance is finally ended after getting it all in on a board with . Alas his opponent turns over and Moorman1 is in serious trouble. The turn is a and that’s Moorman1 out.

After the first break allinstevie starts to take some dents, losing a few pots with dominated aces against those pesky short stacks. He wins a bit of it back in a hand against a smartly dressed player with on a board after being called on turn and river. The smartly dressed player quickly mucks.

allinstevie manages to get some more chips after raising, being re raised and shoving against a young German player. The German quickly folds. A little while later he uses this raw aggression to trap this same German for all his chips with ace nine against the German’s ace five. The luck of the Irish is not present for allinstevie right now, and a five rolls out on the flop and he takes a big hit, despite getting it all in ahead.

He manages to recover a little after winning a smallish pot with a full house, fives full, but busts out in spectacular fashion soon after. Playing six handed while waiting for a table to break, allinstevie re raises another aggressive big stack with . The big stack (one of only four guys in the tournament who can cover allinstevie) calls. The flop comes out . The big stack leads out and allinstevie instantly goes all in. The big stack thinks for a while and calls with . The turn is the last and allinstevie's monster draw is now dead. There were 56 players left when this hand was played. 53 got paid.

Yet this hand is a perfect illustration of why these guys are so successful online. Had allinstevie won this pot (which he has a good chance too) he would have had an absolute monster of a stack and probably been able to cruise to the final table, accumulating chips as he went. This would have given him a real shot at the 700k first prize - which is what really matters in these tournaments - not the small profits for scraping into the money.

Well played guys - I know that big live score is just around the corner for one of you.
