Here at Poker Verdict we love a bit of live tournament coverage, but thought we would try something new for Prague. Judging by the incredible month that the top UK online players had, it seemed appropriate to give them a bit of in depth coverage.
UK number one “stevie444", UK number two “Moorman1", and Irish sensation “allinstevie” were all in attendance. All three were starting on Day 1b, and with 10k starting stacks we kick off at midday.
Things looked bleak at first for allinstevie, seated on the direct right of wonder player “Annette_15". Not only was he seated directly to her right, but she also secured an early double up; usually very dangerous territory. Even in the face of this, allinstevie managed to run his stack up to 17,000 by the first break and was looking relaxed and confident.
Moorman1 was seated at the same table as one of the top UK tournament players, Paul “Action Jack” Jackson, as well as some very aggressive young Scandinavians. With no hands to play with in the first session, Moorman1 just blinded away a little, holding around 9k by the first break.
Stevie444 was seated at what he described as “the tightest table in the world” with a player folding kings face up pre flop at one point. As might be expected on such a table, Stevie444 managed to just about break even - sitting on 10,500 by the first break.
One of the first hands after the break Moorman1 plays a crazy hand against the table donkey. After double barrelling a

board with
he checks the river only to see his opponent flip
and his pair of threes winning. Moorman1 goes on to break the same guy a short while later - raising
and getting it all in on a

board against the other guy’s
.
allinstevie also knocks a player out soon after - calling a minimum raise from the big blind with
and getting it all in on the turn on a

board. His opponent snap calls him with
and is sent to the rail - happy days.
Stevie444 continues to find it hard to make waves on his table - finishing with 12k by the second break. The full chip counts at this point were around 30k for allinstevie and about 27k for Moorman1.
Unfortunately for Moorman1, the break seems to bring horrible luck. He takes a massive dent after betting his
all the way on a paired board, with two clubs out. His opponent calls big bets on all streets with
and hits the nut flush on the river - Moorman1 is back below 10k.
A crazy hand develops on allinstevie's table featuring Annette_15 and a limper. allinstevie tries to isolate a limper from the button with
. Annette_15 re pops allinstevie's raise and the limper calls. allinstevie folds his queens and Annette goes bust bluffing into the limpers kings. allinstevie is dodging bullets for sure.
Not much happens for about a while, just all players trying to grind out some chips. Stevie444 loses the first race of his life and busts trying to out run
with
. So much for running good for a living.
allinstevie continues to accumulate chips towards the end of the day, stacking a guy in a 20k pot with a set of fives. Quickly afterwards he wins another monster pot with aces against his opponents kings. Must be nice.
Moorman1 decides that the 15min break actually lasts an hour and goes to KFC only to come back and realise he has lost yet more of stack blinding away while he eats. Even in the face of this, Moorman1 manages to steal some chips and finish the day on about 14k. All the focus is on allinstevie who has become chip leader of the whole tournament - finishing the day on a monstrous 122k.
Join us tomorrow for Day 2...
