Every player has a pot that means something special to them. That key race in the big tournament, the monster cash pot you hauled in, the hand where it just all came together for you.
You might be surprised by the most important pot I ever won. It was $27 for a start - a long way away from the biggest pots I have ever won. There was not much skill involved in winning it either, no article about the incredible play I made to be written. It was not against top players - there were no scalps to be taken here. Just another $27 pot floating across the felt - like a million others somewhere in cyberspace. View the pot here: http://www.pokerhand.org/?1735038
The reason this pot was so special is because of what it represented. This pot took my account above $200.
For the last month I have been driven insane by trying to build an account up from $1. I have felt the most heartbreak of anytime in my playing career sitting in $2 tournaments and .5/.10c cap cash games. Watched donkey after donkey screw me out of pots that would have enabled me to climb that extra rung higher.
$200 became my bogey number. In the last week I have been up to $199.30, $198.70, and $198.40 - every time I got close I dropped back down through some bad beat or sick setup.$200 had become the first major benchmark on this account building project - one I just could not seem to get over.
Finally, this pot took me over $200.
Hopefully I’ll be able to tell you about my next most important pot soon - I think it will probably be the one that takes me over $1000...
