New Year, New Poker Pain

Omaha, sit and gos, and heart break in the $5 rebuy - how is Philip's $1 account challenge going?

Read The Introduction To The $1 Challenge Here

As it’s the festive season I thought I would give you a little update about my $1 account challenge. I have been very busy recently, and as a result have not been able to put in as many hours as I would like (I was hoping to be over $500 before Christmas), but have still made good progress. The account is currently $419 - and could be much, much higher.

Mostly I have just been playing pot limit Omaha cash games, alternating between buying in full in the .10/.25c games and buying in half to the .25/.50c games - this has been going really well and I have won about $100 over a couple of short sessions. I’ve also been donking around in a few $6 and $11 turbos sit and goes (why I play these crap shoots I’ll never know), and have made a slim profit from these, around $30 since the last update.

EPT Prague Part Two

21 December 2007 by Philip Tuck

Philip Tuck describes following UK online players moorman1 and allinstevie as they entered Day 2 of the EPT Prague...

After the regulation interview with PokerStars at the beginning of day 2 (life is hard at the top), allinstevie sits down and gets down to business, raising and re raising lots of hands - using his loose reputation to crack a set of nines with jack eight on a 9-10-6-Q board. allinstevie now has a stack of ante chips bigger than the rest of the table combined.

Moorman1 continues his yoyo performance - running his stack up to 30k and then straight back down 17k after being pushed off three hands in a row.

EPT Prague Part One

20 December 2007 by Philip Tuck

Philip Tuck focused on UK online players moorman1, stevie444 and allinstevie as they bid for the EPT Prague title last week...

Here at Poker Verdict we love a bit of live tournament coverage, but thought we would try something new for Prague. Judging by the incredible month that the top UK online players had, it seemed appropriate to give them a bit of in depth coverage.

UK number one “stevie444", UK number two “Moorman1", and Irish sensation “allinstevie” were all in attendance. All three were starting on Day 1b, and with 10k starting stacks we kick off at midday.

Things looked bleak at first for allinstevie, seated on... Read more...

Most Important Pot

28 November 2007 by Philip Tuck

Philip Tucks speaks about his most important pot, scooping a massive $27...

Every player has a pot that means something special to them. That key race in the big tournament, the monster cash pot you hauled in, the hand where it just all came together for you.

You might be surprised by the most important pot I ever won. It was $27 for a start - a long way away from the biggest pots I have ever won. There was not much skill involved in winning it either, no article about the incredible play I made to be written. It was not against top players - there were no scalps to be taken here. Just another $27 pot floating across the felt - like a million others somewhere in cyberspace. View the pot here: http://www.pokerhand.org/?1735038

The reason this pot was so special is because of what it represented. This pot took my account above $200.

For the last month I have been driven insane by trying to build an account up from $1. I have felt the most heartbreak of anytime in my playing career... Read more...
