The Best SNG Players On The Net

With recent legislation closing sites like PartyPoker to American customers, PokerStars has become the de facto home of Sit ’n’ Go (SNG) poker. So now seems like a good time to take a look at the best long-term players on that site as well as who has been making waves after coming across from other sites.

Here then, in no particular order, are ten of the best online poker players currently playing at the mid ($200-$300) and high level ($500-$1k) nine-seater SNGs:

BigJoe2003

Perhaps the most visible migrant from PartyPoker, both due to high volume play in the $500 and $1k events and claiming that a 10% return on investment was possible in the new PokerStars $1k turbo SNGs. Has yet to come good on that claim after a quick take-off followed by a $45k downswing, but his hyper-aggressive style guarantees both enormous ups and enormous downs. Has since recovered from the slump and will likely be a force on Stars for the indefinite future.

Dariominieri

This young Italian guy needs no introduction to Poker Verdict readers. Despite having many a player call him a ‘luckbox’ or a ‘fish’ in response to his aggressive gambling style of play, Dario’s record in both turbo and heads-up SNGs on PokerStars remains impressive as does his turnover, made famous by the recent acquisition of a Porsche Cayman S in return for 3 million FPPs. He is clearly a creative and aggressive player who nobody should want at their table when he’s running good.

Dmmikkel

Ultra aggressive and high volume young Norwegian player who plays the mid and high stakes SNGs on PokerStars with much success and a fearless ‘pushbot’ strategy that has led to consistent winnings.

Hassan

The prototype solid high stakes SNG player, with massive turnover and ultra-consistent results, although the influx of new players and the introduction of $1k events has led to a few recent fluctuations. Displays a more old school and conservative style to the new ‘have ev, will push’ players who have used tools like SNGPT from the outset, but also proves that it is a valid and sound approach to the game.

Inissint

Another solid player who has had much success at the mid stakes events with good fundamentals and well-timed aggression. Currently making waves at the higher stakes games and likely to become a consistent winner there as well.

JohnnyBax

Bax needs little introduction as a legendary SNG player and has combined an ultra-aggressive and intelligent approach to the game with arguably the best run of form ever in the high stakes turbo events to produce spectacular results.
Always looking to dominate and go for the win, he has an excellent understanding of the dynamics and motivations of his opponents and exploits his advantage to full effect.

Leemur1

The guy who has won the most over the last 12 months thanks to excellent results in $5k heads-up matches as well as standard and turbo high stakes SNGs. On many players most feared list due to a combination of aggression and unpredictability, although a recent hiatus means he has yet to run up against the new Party players.

MrSmokey1

Has probably had the best results of any player in the standard $1k events, with a solid aggressive game that has borne fruit both there and in the turbos. Only plays at the highest stakes and has a broad base of poker experience that serves him well in competing there.

Sheets

Some say he is the best SNG player on the internet and a thoughtful poster on sites like Two Plus Two. Has an aggressive but open-minded approach to the game and is always willing to think outside the box to find a new angle. Certainly a guy to watch, and watch out for.

THE__D__RY

Another successful migrant from PartyPoker, who has been tearing up the $500 and $1k events in similar fashion to his dominance there. Aggressive but intelligent and with bags of experience at the format, so will undoubtedly be taking home a decent-sized piece of the SNG pie for some time to come.
