"The short-handed no-limit tables are a frenzy of hyper-aggressive action"

Ladbrokes Poker

Ladbrokes has been an established high street bookmaker for over 40 years and have now turned their attention to expanding their fledgling poker rooms. Traffic is always on the increase due to the very large number of great value promotions, freerolls and tournament leaderboards they always offer. They have also ventured into the TV market, with the Ladbrokes Poker Million proving a huge success.

Game Variety

A large number of games are available, including Texas HoldEm, Omaha, Omaha hi-lo, 7-stud, 5-stud and 5-card draw. Ring games range from $0.15-$0.30 to $25-$50 for No Limit and Pot Limit blinds, with fixed limits from $0.25-$0.40 right up to $300-$600. Tournaments range from $5 to $10,000 for a single table, and $1 to $2,500 for the multis.

Competition

Most of the site attracts a fairly average standard of play but the short-handed no-limit tables are a frenzy of hyper-aggressive action, with viewed flop percentages above 50% in some games. With no Americans, there are a decent number of English (and European) fish in the lower limit games.

Sponsorship & Promotions

Ladbrokes are always attracting new customers with a wide range of starting offers. Currently, there is a 100% deposit welcome bonus and $50 free for referring a friend. There is also a bad beat jackpot if your quads get sickly busted by a river straight flush (it can happen), and a chance to qualify for the 2008 WSOP in the WSOP League. The most successful tournament players of the week, month and year receive generous cash prizes to boot.

Graphics/Software

While not cutting edge in its layout, the software is very easy to use and ultra-reliable. It was developed by Microgaming and is the same software used by the Prima Poker Network. They also offer three different table sizes, a simple yet excellent tool that has been overlooked by some of its competitors.

Support/Banking

Deposits can be made via Visa, MasterCard, Debit Card, Switch, Delta, Solo, wire transfer and cheque.
The support team are knowledgeable and friendly, and can be contacted by telephone or e-mail with a quick response time.

Rake

The rake at Ladbrokes is roughly the industry average, although in lower limit games the rake is capped at $1.5 whereas most sites cap it at $1. Tournament rake is the standard – 20 percent at $5 buy-in and 10% for all the rest.
